Minimal Hardware Requirements
Memory 512MB or more
Swap Space 1.5GB or more
Graphics 16 bit or more graphics card, 1280 x 1024 screen resolution.
For MAC, the minimal resolution is 1440 x 900.
Supported Operating Systems
HKL-2000 is available and was tested on the following platforms:
Linux:
  • RedHat Fedora 8 to 14; 32-bit versions
    64-bit versions require installation of additional libraries: yum install glibc.i686 libX11.i686 mesa-libGLU.i686 libXmu.i686 xorg-x11-fonts-75dpi
  • Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, 9.10, 10.04 LTS; 32-bit and 64-bit (requires ia32-libs package) versions
  • RedHat Enterprise Linux 4 and 5; 32-bit versions
    64-bit versions require installation of additional libraries: yum install glibc.i686 libX11.i686 mesa-libGLU.i686 libXmu.i686 xorg-x11-fonts-75dpi
Mac OS X (Intel based): 
  • Mac OS X Lion (10.7)
    • Please note: Default X11 server version 2.6.3 must be replaced by the XQuartz 2.6.2 server (see below)
  • Mac OS X Snow Leopard (up to 10.6.4)
  • Mac OS X Leopard (10.5)

Please note: xdisp is incompatible with the version 2.6.3 of theX11 server. If your Mac OS X uses this version, you MUST INSTALL the XQuartz 2.6.2 server. Please download XQuartz-2.6.2.dmg from: http://xquartz.macosforge.org and install it following the instructions on the site. All other HKL modules have no problems.

Older systems:
For OSF 3.2, the last available version of HKL/HKL-2000 for OSF is 1.97.9. Due to the extinction of this OS, further support has been phased out.
For Irix 6.5 the last release is 0.98.695b. There will be no further support for this operating system.
